About The Position

The Academic Dean manages all aspects of campus academic operations. This role involves determining faculty staffing, recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating faculty in cooperation with Program Managers and the Director of Academics. The Dean serves as a program generalist, resolving staffing issues and providing instructional advice. They train and orient new faculty, implement strategies to increase student retention and program completion, maintain high academic standards, and ensure continuous improvement. The Dean ensures faculty teach according to the prescribed curriculum, conducts faculty meetings, and provides campus leadership and direction. They enforce faculty reporting procedures for attendance, grades, academic probation, and at-risk students, and perform various regular reports including daily attendance rates, staffing, pass/fail rates, and retention. Collaboration with Program Managers, Program Leads, Student Services, and other Academic Deans is crucial for consistent quality delivery. The Dean responds to and investigates student or staff complaints, contributes to program improvement through committee participation, and delivers feedback on curriculum and instructional materials. They also monitor the Academic Department budget and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred in education, teaching, curriculum & instruction, educational leadership, or related field)
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in the education setting
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in an academic setting
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SMS, and GradPro.

Responsibilities

  • Determine optimum faculty staffing model for the campus; recruit, hire, train and evaluate faculty in cooperation with Program Managers and the Director of Academics
  • Serve as program generalist to resolve staffing issues and provide instructional advice to staff.
  • Train and orient new faculty in overall expectations and campus procedures; ensure new faculty meet with Program Managers or Program Leads for program-specific training.
  • Implement strategies and collaborative efforts to increase student retention and program completion rates, maintain high academic standards, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure faculty is teaching according to the prescribed curriculum and outlined structure
  • Conduct faculty meetings
  • Provide campus leadership and direction
  • Enforce faculty reporting procedures for attendance, grades, academic probation, at-risk students, etc.
  • Perform various regular reports including daily attendance rates, staffing, pass/fail rates, retention, etc.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with Program Managers, Program Leads, Student Services, and other Academic Deans to ensure consistent quality delivery of programs and services.
  • Respond, investigate and take appropriate action regarding student or staff complaints or concerns.
  • Actively contribute to program improvement through participation in CSI’s Academic Priority Committee, Curriculum Enhancement Committee, and Specialty Sub Committee
  • Deliver feedback and input from faculty and students regarding curriculum and instructional materials to the Director of Academics, Academic Priority Committee
  • Monitor the Academic Department budget
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
