About The Position

Our employee-owned and multi-disciplined team of engineering and design professionals has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Mining Structural team as a Graduate Design Engineer! As a member of our team, you will work alongside structural engineers and designers to assist with the analysis, design, and detailing of structural systems for mining and heavy industrial facilities. You will contribute to the development of plans, design calculations, specifications, and construction details for steel, concrete, and foundation systems that support processing equipment, material handling systems, platforms, buildings, and other industrial structures. In addition to working alongside structural engineering professionals, you will collaborate within a multi-disciplined environment with mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering teams to design integrated plant and building systems for heavy industrial sectors, including mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals. You may also assist with construction administration responsibilities, including reviewing submittals, interpreting plans, observing construction progress, and helping verify that work aligns with project plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university with a structural emphasis.
  • Up to three years of progressive structural design experience.
  • Certified 'Engineer-in-Training' (EIT) upon completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam (scheduled or completed).
  • Proficiency with RISA 3D or Ram Structural System, MathCAD, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to apply effective verbal and written communication skills when writing specifications and reports, participating in project team discussions, and interacting with clients and contractors.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 15%) for team meetings, client consultations, site inspections/visits, etc.
  • Strong time management skills demonstrated by an ability to budget / allocate / prioritize time spent on multiple projects with concurrent schedules.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future visa sponsorship needs or requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Working knowledge of structural steel, CMU, as well as post-tension and cast-in-place concrete design.
  • Prior experience conducting condition assessments of existing structures.
