About The Position

If you are interested in an opportunity to take initiative and contribute meaningfully to college student career development, the Office of Career & Professional Development (OCPD) is the place for you! The OCPD has a dynamic team environment where professional staff and Peer Career Educators (PCEs) work together to increase student success and alumni connections. PCEs will support major and career exploration, and career readiness, while significantly enhancing their own professional development abilities. Reporting to the OCPD’s Associate Director, this position helps students with a range of career-related needs including the internship & job search, resume and cover letter review, connecting with employers & recruiters, LinkedIn creation & networking strategies, interview prep, graduate school search & application process, general professional development, and more. The PCE is critical to the implementation of career services.

Requirements

  • Must be an incoming or current graduate student enrolled in a master’s program during the 2026-27 academic year
  • Must be able to work in person on the University of Redlands' main campus (Redlands, CA)
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, particularly for student support, cross-departmental collaboration, presentations, and engagement
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Willingness and ability to assume responsibility for confidential student and departmental information
  • Ability to take initiative on department tasks and projects

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within career services or other academic and student-facing departments
  • Experience organizing presentations and workshops meant to be delivered in group and one-on-one settings
  • Event planning experience
  • Strong office and customer service experience

Responsibilities

  • Support the OCPD in the promotion of career services programming and resources through campus events and tabling opportunities, student organization presentations, and classroom presentations
  • Serve as front-facing office support, welcome visitors, and address main office phone and email communications
  • Facilitate individual and group career advising sessions via scheduled appointment and OCPD Drop-In Hours
  • Provide advice and tools to assist students & alumni in achieving career goals that include graduate/professional school attendance or full-time work upon graduation
  • Advising appointment topics include resume/CV & cover letter reviews, career exploration, mock interviews, part-time & full-time job searching, grad school application preparation & personal statement review, and campus involvement as it relates to student’s career goal
  • Familiarize yourself with the Handshake platform and its features to complete daily tasks
  • Research career resources and create content to be published to the OCPD website
  • Market and advertise campus or external career-related opportunities as reviewed and approved by professional staff
  • Create and edit content for presentations on career & professional development topics
  • Plan workshop activities to facilitate the learning process of OCPD tools, services, and career advice
  • Support the Director on general office initiatives and projects as needed
  • Collaborate with Sr. Associate Director on career resources and platform usage, department data, and department marketing efforts as needed
  • Support the Assistant Director on internship initiatives and Career Closet programming
  • Work closely with the Associate Director to execute employer engagement strategies, department workshops, and campus engagement
  • Employer engagement includes maintaining an employer database and contact information, sending event-related communications, and researching local employers and recruitment opportunities for students
  • Other duties as assigned
