About The Position

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) seeks qualified graduate students to be considered for Graduate Assistant positions in support of faculty research activities. This hiring pool will be used by Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty to identify potential candidates whose academic preparation, technical skills, and research interests align with ongoing and emerging departmental research needs. Appointments are contingent upon departmental needs, faculty research funding, candidate qualifications, and applicable university policies. Faculty members will review candidates in the pool and may contact selected applicants for further discussion based on project needs and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Graduate Assistant must be currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program.
  • The successful applicant will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
  • Admissions to the Master Program in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in good academic standing
  • Enrollment in course(s) for the semester towards the degree
  • Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
  • Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional non-teaching assistance to faculty member
  • Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to their advanced study
  • Assisting with handling/or training other student in the use of equipment or other resources
  • Assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials
  • Participate in evaluation of students work
  • Tutoring students
