The Department of Mechanical Engineering Student Services Office seeks to hire a UMD Graduate Assistant to provide administrative support to the undergraduate office and general academic advising to undergraduate Mechanical Engineering students. The position would require approximately 20 hours per week during the term and full-time during summer and winter break. The position is anticipated to be a 12-month assistantship that may continue for additional years. Academic advising for engineering majors involves assisting with course selection, recommending resources for students facing academic challenges, developing 4-year plans, and helping students integrate special programs like study abroad, co-op, minor fields of study, double majors, and the BS/MS program into their academic plans. Additional duties include collaborating with student organizations, hosting prospective students, and performing administrative tasks for the undergraduate office. The A.
