About The Position

The University Sustainability Committee (USC) is seeking a 9-month graduate assistant, beginning August 24th 2026 and ending May 9th 2027. The USC works to support, promote, and grow Duquesne University’s efforts to build a sustainable campus. The Committee is comprised of students, staff and faculty, and fosters opportunities for multidisciplinary engagement across academic units, facilities, and University leadership.

  • Knowledge of Canva design
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Sustainability Studies

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chair and USC in organizing, marketing, and hosting events
  • Attend monthly USC meetings
  • Grow the USC community and build awareness of the USC on campus, which will include working with the Division of Marketing and Communications to keep the sustainability website up-to-date, and with campus allies to communicate event information
  • Maintain the Campus Produce Garden in collaboration with the Gardens and Greenspaces Working Group
  • Design and distribute posters and event calendars
  • Gather and catalog information to support USC initiatives
  • Track and record information regarding sustainability metrics across campus for annual reporting, including the STARS Report, Greenhouse Gas Report, and USC Annual Report
  • Take notes at USC meetings
  • Meet with the Chair each week
