About The Position

The Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability provides supportive services, programs, and activities that enhance our students’ academic and personal development. This graduate assistant position will serve as a student liaison, assisting students with concerns and issues including, but not limited to, University Excused Absences, the academic grade appeal process, and general complaints. The role involves answering general questions and helping students obtain the appropriate resources.

Requirements

  • Completion of bachelor’s degree by the first day of employment
  • Enroll (or seeking admittance) in a Marshall University graduate program
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA, if granted the role.
  • Complete 20 hours of work per week.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.0.
  • Outside employment must be approved by the Director of Student Advocacy. Approval will be based on position and academic performance; outside employment cannot interfere with GA responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in staffing the reception desk, greeting students, answering the phone, and maintaining the filing system.
  • Assist with triaging student needs and connecting them with necessary resources.
  • Assist with approving or denying University Excused Absences.
  • Help provide presentations and organize activities.
  • Work with the Director of Student Advocacy to enhance the experience for both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
