About The Position

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Gannon University is committed to excellence in student-centered learning, with an emphasis on student learning outcomes. Graduate Assistants play an important role in achieving these outcomes by working collaboratively with program faculty and fellow Graduate Assistants to support program operations, facilitate open laboratory experiences, provide academic support as requested by faculty, and assist with clinical practice opportunities. While each Graduate Assistant has primary responsibilities, all GAs are expected to work collaboratively, support one another, and contribute to program needs as they arise. As leaders and representatives of the DPT Program, Graduate Assistants are expected to demonstrate professionalism, initiative, flexibility, maintain student confidentiality, and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the standards and values of the program. This position is for students beginning the first year of the DPT program. Career Readiness Competencies Communication: Effectively communicate with faculty, peers, and students while demonstrating respect for diverse learning styles, communication abilities, and cultural backgrounds. Teamwork: Collaborate with faculty and fellow Graduate Assistants to support program operations, assist one another as needed, and contribute to shared program goals. Requirements

  • Enrollment as a first-year student in the Gannon University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
  • Successful completion of cadaver-based anatomy course
  • Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Graduate Assistant team and contribute to shared program responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all students follow laboratory safety guidelines, wear appropriate attire, including long pants, closed-toed shoes, and eye protection, and maintain professional conduct during scheduled laboratory times.
  • Complete cadaver dissections according to provided instructions.
  • Coordinate open laboratory sessions for first-year anatomy students and ensure adherence to laboratory safety expectations.
  • Assist with maintaining an inventory of essential laboratory materials, including nitrile gloves and dissection kits.
  • Ensure that all laboratory surfaces and tools are properly cleaned and disinfected following dissections and open laboratory sessions.
  • Assist faculty with administrative tasks and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining physical therapy laboratory environments, including organization, laboratory set-up and clean-up, inventory, and laundry.
