About The Position

The physical therapy program at Gannon University is committed to excellence in student-centered learning, with an emphasis on student-learning outcomes. Our graduate assistants play an important role in achieving these outcomes, working collaboratively with program faculty and colleagues as they assist in program operations, hosting open-lab times with first year students, tutoring as requested by the faculty, and in practice opportunities. Graduate assistants must maintain student confidentiality, display initiative, and be flexible with work requirements. This position is for students entering the third year of the DPT program. This position will be remote after fall break and follows the university academic calendar.

Requirements

  • Enrollment as a second-year student in the Gannon University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
  • Demonstrated academic success and strong foundational knowledge appropriate to providing peer academic support.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, initiative, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, fellow Graduate Assistants, and students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with common technology platforms, including Microsoft Office, Blackboard, and social media, or the ability to learn new technologies as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • No instances of academic or professional behavior probation.
  • Experience in copywriting, public relations, or social media/marketing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate weekly review sessions for first- and second-year DPT students, including in-person and virtual didactic support as appropriate throughout the academic year.
  • Provide individualized tutoring for first- and second-year students as requested by faculty.
  • Communicate attendance, participation, and session summaries to faculty.
  • Assist faculty with grading and course support as assigned.
  • Manage the DPT Program’s social media platforms and develop content that highlights student, faculty, and program accomplishments.
  • Develop and distribute program newsletters and other marketing materials.
  • Maintain and update program pages, Blackboard resources, scholarship information, and other student-facing communications.
  • Assist with the organization and preparation of instructional spaces, laboratory activities, and other program initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintain Graduate Assistant time records and other program documentation.
  • Support student engagement initiatives, including Wellness Wednesdays and Community Health Initiative (CHI) activities.
  • Perform additional administrative and program support responsibilities as assigned by faculty.
