About The Position

The Department of Philosophy at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) is seeking graduate students for a 12-month Graduate Assistant position. The GA will provide professional non-teaching assistance to a faculty member, primarily supporting PHIL 1600. Duties will vary based on the specific assignment and faculty supervisor's needs, but may include research assistance, training in equipment use, preparation of course materials, participation in student work evaluation, and tutoring.

Requirements

• Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Philosophy
• Currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program
• Admissions to the Master Program in the Department of Philosophy, in good academic standing
• Enrollment in course(s) for the semester towards the degree
• Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
• Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
• Background check completion
• Disclosure of any final administrative or judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last seven years (after meeting minimum qualifications and before offer of employment)
• Sign a release form authorizing the release of information concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct (for finalists)

• Assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials
