About The Position

The Department of Music at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) is seeking graduate students for a 12-month Graduate Assistant position. This role offers practical experience in fields related to advanced study and provides professional, non-teaching assistance to faculty members. Responsibilities may vary depending on the assigned area and faculty supervisor's needs, and can include assisting with research, preparing course materials, handling or training others on equipment, and participating in student work evaluation and tutoring.

Requirements

Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Music.
Graduate Assistant must be currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program.
The successful applicant will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
Admissions to the Master Program in the Department of Music, in good academic standing
Enrollment in course(s) for the semester towards the degree
Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Background check (including a criminal records check) must be satisfactorily completed.

Responsibilities

Provide professional non-teaching assistance to faculty member
Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to their advanced study
Assisting with handling/or training other student in the use of equipment or other resources
Assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials
Participate in evaluation of students work
Tutoring students
