The library Graduate Assistant (GA) reports to the University Librarian. This part time position in the library primarily covers weekends and evening hours by provide assistance in circulation; checking books in and out, checking and monitoring of undergraduate student workers’ work quality when shelving, making security rounds, reporting library physical plant issues to the circulation supervisor, such as an out of service printer, a plugged up toilet, a burned out light bulb, etc. and completing other duties as assigned. The GA is also responsible for providing some basic direct one-on-one peer support for locating and using library materials, databases, and other resources when library faculty are unavailable. Nights and weekends are required part of schedule. The ability to foster a sense of belonging, responsibility and respect in FWS team members and regular visitors is very important. With the advent of a high school program in the library, the Graduate Assistant will be a vital resource for students attending this program and using the study hall time in the library. Creating a welcoming atmosphere, and supportive environment for students attending this program as well as our undergraduate and graduate students is critical.
