About The Position

Grand Canyon University is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the College of Natural Sciences. This position will oversee daily operations of the research laboratory, coordinate scheduling and workflow, maintain a clean and safe lab environment, monitor inventory, and perform routine equipment maintenance. The assistant will also train undergraduate students, assist with participant recruitment and coordination, ensure accurate data entry, and maintain research documentation in compliance with IRB and institutional guidelines. This role requires adherence to the University's Student Code of Conduct and HR employment processes.

Requirements

  • Be admitted to a graduate degree seeking program at GCU. (Certificate only programs do not satisfy this requirement.)
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0. (If a student is newly admitted to the University, the admission GPA is considered for this requirement.)
  • A student must also maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their employment.
  • Be enrolled in as a “regular” (not provisional) degree-seeking student for at least 6 graduate level units leading to the degree. (Undergraduate or audited courses do not satisfy this requirement.)
  • Graduate Assistants must follow the HR employment workflow processes and pre-employment background checks.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in exercise science, kinesiology, public health, or related field
  • Experience with human subjects research and laboratory equipment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the research laboratory
  • Coordinate scheduling and workflow of lab activities and participant testing
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment
  • Monitor inventory and ensure lab supplies and consumables are stocked
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting
  • Train undergraduate students in research protocols, data collection procedures, and lab safety
  • Assist with recruitment, scheduling, and coordination of study participants
  • Ensure accurate and consistent data entry and recordkeeping
  • Assist with data cleaning, organization, and preliminary analysis
  • Maintain research documentation in compliance with IRB and institutional guidelines
  • Maintain secure storage of participant data and research records
  • Assist in developing and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs)
