About The Position

Mercy Medical Center is hiring a Graduate Advanced Practice Provider (GAPP) who is a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. The role works with inpatient and outpatient physicians in an academic community-hospital setting, collaborating with attending physicians, resident physicians, and allied-school students in team-based Inpatient Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Surgery rotations. Outpatient rotations involve working directly with physicians in high-volume office settings. The position also offers opportunities to participate in Quality and Patient Safety Department projects and initiatives. The GAPP is assigned clinical rotations in inpatient and outpatient settings and participates in a structured educational program. Patient care must remain within the applicable Maryland scope of practice: under physician supervision for Physician Assistants, and within the Maryland Board of Nursing scope for Nurse Practitioners. During inpatient rotations, the GAPP provides patient assessment and care, supports treatment and discharge planning, coordinates with clinical and support teams, documents care, and communicates patient status. During outpatient rotations, the GAPP evaluates patients, coordinates diagnostic testing and referrals, provides education and counseling, and collaborates with multidisciplinary care teams. Additional duties may be assigned by the Department of Quality and Patient Safety.
