About The Position

The Graduate Admission, Administrative Analyst supports the systems, workflows, and operational processes that drive graduate admissions at San Diego State University. This position serves as a key resource for admissions staff and campus partners by managing application processing workflows, analyzing and resolving system issues, maintaining admissions configurations, and supporting process improvements. The Analyst also develops training resources, coordinates user access, and helps ensure accurate, efficient, and student-focused admissions operations throughout the application cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience supporting admissions, enrollment, student services, or other administrative functions in a college or university environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience reviewing documents, maintaining accurate records, and performing detailed data entry with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze information, apply policies and procedures, and make sound decisions using good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of budgeting practices, reporting processes, and basic research or data analysis techniques to support operational and program goals.
  • Experience creating reports, training materials, presentations, or other communications for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with database systems and business applications, including experience updating records and maintaining data integrity; PeopleSoft Campus Solutions experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships and serve as a resource for students, colleagues, and campus partners.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a collaborative team dedicated to supporting student success and organizational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Support graduate admissions operations by monitoring application workflows, reviewing data, and helping ensure applications are processed accurately and efficiently throughout the admissions cycle.
  • Analyze and resolve system and application issues, working closely with admissions staff, business analysts, and IT partners to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
  • Develop and maintain reports, queries, and data tools that support operational decision-making, workflow management, and continuous process improvement.
  • Support admissions system configurations and annual setup activities, including program maintenance, application cycle preparation, testing, and validation of system updates.
  • Serve as a key resource for staff and campus partners, providing support for admissions workflows, system access, security permissions, and process-related questions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automation, recommending enhancements that streamline operations and improve the experience for applicants and staff.
  • Create training materials and deliver training sessions for admissions staff, student assistants, and campus partners to support effective use of admissions systems and processes.
