About The Position

The Grade Level Team Leader will provide ongoing support of building initiatives and professional development with their team. The leader should build an environment that promotes professional growth, develops reflective practitioners, enhances student achievement, and supports research-based instructional and behavioral practices.

Requirements

  • A valid Iowa teaching certificate
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in education or acceptable content area
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience
  • One year experience within the District.
  • Must possess proper state certification and licensure for the position.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical to the success of this position.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from all levels of the organization, including staff, principals, and central administration.
  • Communication will include individual to large group presentations as well as written communications and reports.
  • The individual must have effective listening skills.
  • Must possess influencing/persuasion skills when working with staff and principals on curriculum issues and instructional strategies to embrace and implement change intended to positively impact student achievement.
  • Must be an effective facilitator in a variety of situations.
  • Must have the ability to facilitate group meetings and facilitate large and small group professional development.
  • Group facilitation includes discussion, as well as group problem-solving processes.
  • Must have the ability to plan both long-term and short-term.
  • The position requires strong organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to organize and assimilate information, assessment data, scheduling, and other needs within the building.
  • The individual must have a solid background in assessment and have the ability to interpret data.
  • Must be able to apply assessment strategies and link assessment data analysis to instruction.
  • The individual must be competent in research and information gathering through technology.
  • Must also have the capability to collect and sort data through technology.
  • The ability to present and communicate through technology is required, including spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and web-based information.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Board policies, District procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Serves as a member of Building Leadership Team (or)
  • Serves as a member of the Positive Behavior Interventions Systems (PBIS) Team.
  • May serve as Curriculum team member during content area curriculum revision (stages 1-3).
  • Attends regular weekly meetings with administrators.
  • Lead and support change initiatives in the building.
  • Lead and support Building Professional Development on Mondays.
  • Bi-weekly grade checks by grade level.
  • Bi-weekly communication home to all parents of students currently failing.
  • Develop and monitor processes to address tardies to class by grade level.
  • Monitor attendance hearings for chronically absent students by grade level.
  • Team-player receptive to new ideas and strategies.
  • Supportive of the goals of the building and District, and be able to communicate that to your peers.
  • Facilitates Grade Level Team Meetings.
  • High-implementer of research-based instructional and behavioral practices.
  • Relationships with other teachers should be viewed as professional and supportive.
  • Model best practices within the Educational Setting.
