About The Position
Caton Construction Group is growing and seeking a Grade Foreman for their roadway construction project in Farmville, Virginia. The Grade Foreman is a field position responsible for organizing and leading a crew to safely and efficiently perform mass earthwork and excavating activities, balancing highway and road construction/reconstruction. The Foreperson works under the general direction of the Superintendent.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as construction foreman
- Driver’s license is required.
Nice To Haves
- diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.) a plus.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans.
- Plan, organize and lead grading crew.
- Producing schedules and monitor attendance of crew.
- Allocating general and daily responsibilities.
- Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans.
- Schedule aggregate material quantities and deliveries. Determine trucking needs and schedule truck.
- Allocate general and daily responsibilities.
- Supervise and train workers and tradespeople.
- Ensure labor and other resources are adequate.
- Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met.
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
- Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget.
- Resolve problems when they arise.
- Report on progress to managers, engineers etc.
- Assigning work to subordinates, as well as establishing deadlines and modifying work schedules to meet deadlines as needed
