Extra Duty: Grade 5 Boys Basketball
About The Position
This is an extra duty position for a Grade 5 Boys Basketball Coach at Dexter Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary function is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that provides the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete. The role involves ensuring compliance with school policies, working cooperatively with staff, relating positively to parents and community, demonstrating professional growth, completing records accurately, demonstrating proficiency in English, accepting responsibilities beyond the team setting, assuming responsibility for care of materials and facilities, and ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Instructional responsibilities include fostering positive interactions among student-athletes, building supportive relationships, demonstrating enthusiasm for coaching and learning, promoting self-direction and self-motivation in students, and creating clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance. Subject matter responsibilities include exhibiting comprehensive knowledge of basketball, ensuring effective instruction, and adapting strategy and fundamentals to student needs. Planning and materials responsibilities involve developing and sustaining an organized athletic program with long-term planning, and demonstrating effective planning and organization with diverse strategies and resources. Techniques and delivery responsibilities include clearly conveying fundamental coaching expectations, explaining their significance, utilizing appropriate and varied coaching techniques, and maintaining an effective system for monitoring student progress.

- Prior coaching experience preferred.

- Maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and to inform appropriate persons.
