About The Position

Oregon Episcopal School (OES) is seeking a Middle School Boys Basketball Coach for the 6th-grade team. This role involves planning and leading practices, managing team equipment and uniforms, and fostering a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, inclusion, and teamwork. The coach will also support player well-being and collaborate with school staff to encourage long-term engagement with the OES Basketball program. OES is an independent co-educational boarding and day school with a 59-acre campus, serving approximately 880 students in Pre-K through 12th Grade. The school is committed to educating students to realize their power for good as engaged citizens of the world, valuing lifelong learning, inclusion, respect, service, and justice.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous Basketball Coaching experience
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • First Aid Card
  • Fingerprinting/Criminal Check
  • Completion of all OGLA certifications
  • Completion of All OES Requirements and employment forms

Responsibilities

  • Confirming Team Roster, Maintaining Roster Accuracy; coordinate with the Athletic Department to finalize and communicate updates as needed
  • Keep the Athletic Department informed of player additions, consistent absences or removals
  • Ongoing communication with Athletic department and AT regarding injuries on or off the court and eligibility to participate once clearance takes place
  • Regularly update families and players regarding schedules, expectations, and events
  • Manage Equipment and Collecting/Returning Uniforms
  • Organize, maintain, and account for all team equipment during the season
  • Plan and Lead Dynamic Practices; design practices that promote skill development, strategy, and personal growth
  • Be present for all practices, games, and bus rides to away contests
  • Ensure players are equipped, informed, and ready for each game
  • Foster Team Culture; cultivate a positive environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, inclusion, and teamwork
  • Exemplify respect, responsibility, and sportsmanship in every interaction
  • Monitor and encourage the emotional and social wellness of all team members
  • Work effectively with upper school programs, assistant coaches, faculty, and athletic personnel to support athletes
  • Inform players about US program to encourage long-term engagement
