About The Position

The Public Schools of Brookline (PSB) is seeking a Gr. 4-8 Building Sports Coordinator (BSC) to oversee intramural and extramural programming at the Florida Ruffin Ridley School for the SY26-27 school year. The BSC will work under the direction of the District's Intramural and Extramural Coordinators and school principals to ensure program consistency. PSB serves over 7,500 students in Kindergarten to grade 12 across eight elementary (K-8) schools and one high school, with a mission to ensure every student develops the skills and knowledge to pursue a productive and fulfilling life, participate thoughtfully in a democracy, and succeed in a diverse and evolving global society.

Requirements

  • Must complete concussion training and maintain concussion training records for all coaches; must be completed prior to start of season.
  • All employees must be vaccinated and maintain full vaccination as a condition of employment or work as an on-site vendor/contractor, unless they receive approval for a documented medical or religious exemption in accordance with relevant state and/or federal law.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee intramural and extramural programming.
  • Communicate registration information for Extramural sports to school leaders and families.
  • Develop a "coach’s responsibilities" folder for all coaches.
  • Prepare and submit attendance and timesheet information to payroll.
  • Prepare concussion report forms, warning signs for parents, rules, schedules, philosophy, and contact sheets for parents/guardians.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain current certifications.
  • Communicate practice schedules for all seasons, understanding session limits and budget restrictions per sport.
  • Complete concussion training and maintain concussion training records for all coaches prior to the start of the season.
  • Track concussions for year-end reporting.
  • Work with Principals to ensure all applicants complete the hiring process before starting work.
  • Track attendance of coaches and participants.
  • Substitute for coaches as needed.
  • Supply and collect equipment for all after-school activities.
  • Distribute and collect uniforms in a timely manner.
  • Hire and secure officials for Volleyball Games.
  • Perform referee duties if unable to secure officials.
  • Submit officials’ payment forms to Payroll.
  • Cover crowd control at home games and assist at tournament games.
  • Post and circulate schedules to communicate sport information.
  • Report scores to the Extramual Sports Coordinator after each game.
