GPU Design Verification Engineer

Qualcomm•Santa Clara, CA
•$135,700 - $203,500

About The Position

The GPU Design Verification Engineer works on the architecture, design, implementation, verification, and performance and power optimization of GPU cores. The role verifies Graphics IP through pre- and post-silicon activities to confirm correctness and help meet performance and power goals. The engineer develops and maintains SystemVerilog/UVM verification environments, creates advanced testing frameworks that reproduce real-world system integration conditions, and gathers and analyzes test results. The role collaborates with architecture, software, firmware, design, modeling, emulation, and post-silicon validation teams to develop verification methodology and content. It also includes participation in GPU architecture and micro-architecture reviews, system-level testing, continuous-integration automation, and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Verification skills in test planning, scripting, simulation, problem solving, and debugging.
  • Skills in SystemVerilog, UVM, Verilog or VHDL, and C/C++.
  • Experience with constrained-random verification, functional coverage development, and design debugging.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of hardware engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, or related work experience.
  • Exposure to emulation or prototyping platforms such as Veloce, Palladium, Zebu, or FPGA.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of relevant GPU experience, either external or internal.
  • Experience in GPU-based verification.
  • Experience in system- or subsystem-level verification.
  • Experience with concurrency, preemption, and stress-testing frameworks.
  • Testbench architecture and implementation experience.
  • Exposure to graphics APIs such as Vulkan, DX11, or DX12.
  • Scripting and automation skills, including Python, Make, or Airflow.
  • Embedded firmware development and debugging experience.
  • Benchmarking and performance-analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating-system kernel architecture.
  • Experience with C/C++, GNU toolchain, and Visual Studio.
  • Formal verification experience, including FPV and DPV.
  • Experience with emulation, prototyping, hybrid build, and execution flows such as Veloce, Palladium, Zebu, Protium, HAPS, or qemu.
  • Experience developing synthesizable transactors, monitors, and scoreboards for emulation platforms.
  • Embedded firmware and/or kernel-level development and debugging skills, including C/C++, Makefile, gdb, uboot, uefi, and kernel-mode drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Apply graphics knowledge to architect, design, implement, and verify the structure and performance of GPU hardware, drivers, features, applications, and tools.
  • Create and maintain verification test benches and environments using SystemVerilog/UVM.
  • Create and use advanced testing frameworks to generate and recreate real-world system integration conditions.
  • Collaborate with architecture, software, firmware, design, modeling, emulation, and post-silicon validation teams to define and develop test methodology and content.
  • Participate in GPU architecture and micro-architecture reviews.
  • Collect, organize, and execute system-level test content, including directed test cases, gaming benchmarks, standards-compliance test suites, and system-level scenarios.
  • Build automation for continuous integration and testing based on the latest GPU IP.
  • Collect and analyze test results using straightforward statistics and data predictions to track benchmarks and identify issues.
  • Work with team members to understand and align on the scope of feature development and meet targets.
  • Write technical documentation and feature descriptions for straightforward projects under supervisor direction.
  • Own and execute key independent tasks toward program requirements.
  • Work within prescribed timelines and resource constraints.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and novel circumstances using independent creative thought and deductive problem solving.
  • Research through available resources and engage with interdisciplinary teams.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual discretionary bonus program.
  • Opportunity for annual RSU grants, except for employees on sales-incentive plans.
  • Competitive benefits package designed to support employees at work, at home, and at play.
