About The Position

This position assists skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties and may work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. The role requires the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman. The job involves effective math skills, eliminating waste, understanding safety hazards, and learning to safely operate tools and equipment. The employee is expected to produce high-quality work safely and productively, maintain positive working relationships, and provide feedback to ensure necessary resources are available. The job description is subject to change and may include other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 2 to 3 years' experience as a Grade Checker.
  • Must have GPS/Survey Equipment experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Wastewater civil construction experience preferred.
  • NCCER Core Curriculum and/or a High School diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
  • One year experience (level I), two years' experience (level II) and three plus years' experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry is preferred.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.
  • Produce high-quality work, safely and productively at all times.
  • Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.

Benefits

  • $32 to $35 per hour depending on experience
  • $120 days worked per diem for qualified candidates over 90 miles
