About The Position

GPS Field Technician Location: Maui, Hawaiʻi Department: Civil Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Reports To: Foreman Compensation: $25–$40/hour (based on experience, certifications, and field expertise) Build Hawaiʻi From the Ground Up — With Precision. Requirements

  • Experience working in construction, civil, utility, grading, surveying, or related field environments
  • Ability to operate GPS and field technology equipment effectively
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions
  • Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and active construction zones
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stand, walk, climb on/off equipment, and work in physically demanding environments
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and mechanical equipment
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; we are unable to sponsor employment visas. Employment eligibility will be verified upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Experience with construction layout, machine control systems, or surveying equipment
  • OSHA certifications or safety training
  • Experience operating skid steers or compact equipment

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate GPS receivers, total stations, subsurface line locators, and other field technology
  • Load and manage 3D models, site calibrations, and grade verification
  • Perform as-built surveys and maintain accurate field data
  • Direct equipment operators during excavation, grading, and material placement
  • Maintain visual and verbal communication with crews to ensure safe movement coordination
  • Support construction activities including: Underground utilities, Concrete work, Pipe system assembly, Site preparation, Material handling
  • Operate tools and equipment such as: Power tools, Rollers, Skid loaders
  • Assist with traffic control and overall site safety
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and efficient job sites
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support project success
