About The Position

As Government Relations (GR) Manager, you will support the advocacy and policy initiatives of Fidelity’s Government Relations and Public Policy team. S/he will be in the middle of the action in the Washington office for one of the nation’s leading financial services firms and will be expected to cover and keep the team apprised of legislative and regulatory developments, support external engagement with policymakers and other external stakeholders/trade associations, conduct research and analysis on policy issues and policymakers, and assist with political programming. The role will provide opportunities to contribute to strategy and planning on key initiatives and expand your network in Washington while covering congressional hearings, trade association meetings, and political events.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree
  • 2-3 years of government relations, public policy, communications, public relations or Capitol Hill experience preferred
  • Familiarity with financial services and public policy issues
  • Excellent people skills and stellar communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize issues and workflow while exercising good, independent judgment
  • Capable of efficiently producing thorough research; qualitative analysis; and clear, concise written work
  • Expertise in creating advocacy materials and executive-level presentations and proficient in PowerPoint slide design
  • Excel in working in a highly collaborative team environment

Responsibilities

  • Providing research, analysis, material development and project management support to advance the government relations and public policy team efforts engaging with policymakers, regulators, other government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Draft legislative and regulatory updates and briefings on political and policy developments and assist with talking points and prep memos for meetings with policymakers.
  • Scanning the external industry environment and monitoring policy, legislative, and regulatory developments.
  • Tracking and subsequently preparing summaries of outside events, including congressional hearings and regulatory open meetings, with a focus on the potential impact on Fidelity and the industry.
  • Assisting with the firm’s political program, including its political action committee/PAC.
  • Attending trade association and other meetings to keep the government relations and public policy team informed.
