About The Position

This is a permanent Associate Staff Organization (ASO) position and is subject to the collective bargaining agreement between ISTA and ASO. The position is currently hybrid, with ability to work from home. The position is based at ISTA headquarters in downtown Indianapolis, and reports to Deidre Rasheed, Director of Government, Community, Racial, and Social Justice. The ideal candidate is organized, flexible, and self-motivated, with the ability to collaborate across the organization to ensure brand consistency, coordinated messaging, and high standards for both internal and external communications. The qualifications, duties, and responsibilities listed below reflect the primary expectations of the role but are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of ISTA’s organizational structure, philosophy, goals, and operations
  • Excellent technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft tools, current communication mediums, Internet navigation and the operation of common office equipment.
  • Proficient in office routines and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to use the standard office equipment.
  • Proficient in use of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, proofreading, and accepted typing styles and formats.
  • Ability to create spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to accurately process and maintain administrative and fiscal records with great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, tactfully, courteously and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to carry out assignments with minimum instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, make decisions independently, and manage confidential assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Field Organizers and at times select Government,
  • Assist with lobby days and related event coordination.
  • Assist with campaign and election-related administrative tasks.
  • Compose and prepare other correspondence and reports as directed.
  • Proofread reports, correspondence, and publications for style and for correct English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Prepare and organize materials and activities as needed for management and professional staff.
  • Perform reasonable miscellaneous job-related activities assigned by management and professional staff.
  • Answer telephone and place calls as necessary.
  • Respond to routine questions.
