About The Position

This position assists in planning, training, exercising, supporting real events, and completing required reports and documentation related to emergency management and public health preparedness. It involves coordination with internal and external partners at various levels, supporting the Special Needs Shelter program, and assisting with initiatives like the Cities Readiness Initiative. The role also includes reviewing emergency management plans and participating in various preparedness activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, training, exercising, supporting real events, completing required reports and documentation.
  • Coordination with internal and external partners for response and recovery at the local, state, regional and federal levels.
  • Supports the county’s Special Needs Shelter (SpNS) program to align processes with support partners. Provides updates and changes in coordination with Brevard County Emergency Management to maintain concurrent planning and response across support agencies. Reviews shelter assignment based on location of client’s residence and pre-defined client needs.
  • Assists in the coordination of the Cities Readiness Initiative, cultivating and training new Closed Point of Dispensing partners, training Florida Department of Health in Brevard County staff on Open Points of Dispensing and Local Distribution Site roles and responsibilities.
  • Assists in the review of Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans submitted by home health agencies, home medical equipment providers, hospice, and nurse registries.
  • Participates in Public Health Preparedness training, partner meetings, exercises and real events.
  • Prepares exercises and documentation as required by the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program.
  • Assists in the Florida Health Alert Network and notification drills/real events and required quarterly reporting.
