About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Bureau of Intelligence & Analytical Support. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive intelligence analysis and consultation to support the Office of Intelligence by developing threat assessments, utilizing various intelligence disciplines, collaborating with multiple agencies, managing projects, and effectively communicating findings to inform strategic decision-making across the correctional system. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

• Knowledge of methods for data collection and analysis to support both short-term and long-term planning, including compiling statistical, administrative, and performance measure reports as directed.
• Understanding of public records exemptions for processing confidential information according to Section 119.071, F.S., and ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling criminal information and intelligence.
• Familiarity with the criminal justice system, the Department's Corrections Data Center (CDC), and relevant Florida Statutes and Administrative Code.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and statistical software programs, as well as the operation of audio, visual, and training aids.
• Ability to apply the intelligence cycle effectively, preparing comprehensive reports and visual presentations using analytical software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills to conduct research, evaluate and analyze data, and develop alternative recommendations for problem-solving and workflow improvement.
• Ability to work efficiently and professionally both independently and as a collaborative team member, responding to internal and external requests.
• Demonstrated multi-tasking, organizational, and planning abilities.
• Must have a demonstratable working knowledge of STORMS (Security Threat Operational Review Management System.)
• Ability to coordinate and communicate intelligence information internally and externally as required.
• Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a correctional setting (includes probations/community corrections.)
• Must possess a minimum two (2) years professional experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, law enforcement, or open-source investigations AND Security Threat Groups.

Responsibilities

• Conducts consultant and analytical functions to support the Office of Intelligence.
• Develops and prepares threat assessments, evaluations, and intelligence products for both short-term and long-term needs across the correctional scope.
• Applies Business Intelligence, GEOINT, HUMINT, and OSINT practices for intelligence analysis.
• Briefs the Chief of Intelligence daily on crime patterns, trends, and ongoing projects, supporting informed decision-making.
• Collects, analyzes, and interprets intelligence data to evaluate officer deployment and problem-solving efforts.
• Uses complex statistical tools for ad-hoc analysis and tracking of crime and intelligence information; develops statistical resources for targeted operations.
• Engages in inter-agency collaboration, including Institution Security, Classification, Community Corrections, OIG, and Research & Analysis; available for statewide travel and intelligence gathering.
• Acts as the intelligence liaison and primary contact for the agency Phone Group lab.
• Produces link analysis, timeline analysis, and commodity flow analysis reports; utilizes ESRI ArcGIS software for mapping strategic initiatives.
• Manages multiple projects by prioritizing tasks within the intelligence section.
• Communicates accurately and professionally in written and verbal formats; delivers reliable reports and visual presentations to large groups as an agency representative.
