About The Position

The Golf Shop Assistant is responsible for ensuring all members and guests are greeted professionally and courteously. This role involves answering customer questions, providing assistance and information, and managing phone calls to schedule tee times. The assistant will operate the point of sale system accurately, collect fees, and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the golf shop and merchandise displays. A key aspect of this role is providing excellent customer service by being knowledgeable about products and sales techniques, anticipating customer needs, and promoting the company's service philosophy. The position also involves managing inventory levels, opening and closing procedures for the golf shop, and maintaining a high profile with members and guests.

Requirements

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Ability to use logical or rational thinking to solve problems.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to provide effective written and verbal instructions, as well as the ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
  • Ability to effectively inspect professional golf shop merchandise displays and outside operations golf areas.
  • Requires regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work; may be required to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally, up to 45 pounds frequently, and up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to perform activities such as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping for up to five (5) hours without sitting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome members and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Answer customer questions and provide assistance and information.
  • Answer telephone to schedule future starting times and communicate information professionally.
  • Accurately operate point of sale system, verify taxes and charges on sales tickets, and collect green fees and cart fees.
  • Assist in developing standards and maintaining cleanliness and appearance of Golf Shop storage areas and merchandise displays.
  • Utilize the principles of the SCORE customer service program to provide leadership in customer service.
  • Professionally communicate information, sell merchandise, and become knowledgeable in all products and sales techniques.
  • Anticipate the needs of members and guests and offer appropriate merchandise alternatives.
  • Ensure displays are kept at par stock inventory levels and meet or exceed company standards.
  • Manage, open, close, and secure golf shop and storage areas using established procedures.
  • Maintain a high profile with membership and guests and promote the service philosophy of Founders Group.
  • Indirectly manage the Locker Room Supervisor and Outside Operations Supervisor.
