About The Position

The Player Assistant / Starter delivers an exceptional golf experience by ensuring smooth play, managing first-tee operations, and providing service to members and guests throughout the golf course. The role serves as an ambassador of The Boca Raton, supporting pace of play and daily golf operations while upholding the resort’s luxury service standards. The position welcomes golfers, coordinates tee times, communicates course information, monitors play, and assists with guest needs. It also supports tournament and event operations, first-tee setup, outside services, and other Golf Operations areas as business demands require.

Requirements

Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Professional, outgoing personality.
Working knowledge of golf etiquette, pace of play, and the game of golf.
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree, and to reach, handle, feel, talk, hear, and see.

Nice To Haves

Previous golf, country club, resort, or hospitality experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Welcome members and guests at the first tee with a warm, professional, personalized greeting.
Manage the tee sheet and help ensure groups begin play on schedule.
Communicate course policies, local rules, and daily information to golfers before play.
Monitor pace of play and help groups maintain an enjoyable pace through professional guest service.
Assist members and guests throughout the course, anticipating needs and resolving concerns promptly.
Communicate with the Golf Shop and Outside Services team about tee times, course conditions, and operational updates.
Set up and maintain the first tee, including scorecards, pencils, divot mix, towels, water, and other player amenities.
Assist with tournament operations, outings, and special events.
Maintain a visible presence on the golf course and promote a positive member experience.
Report course conditions, safety concerns, and guest feedback to Golf Management.
Assist with staging and outside service operations during peak periods.
Support Golf Attendants with cart staging, practice facility setup, and guest arrivals when needed.
Help with tournament setup, scoring, and event logistics.
Restock golf operation supplies and first-tee amenities.
Assist in the Golf Shop or other Golf Operations areas as business demands require.
Attend department meetings and participate in ongoing training.
Perform additional duties assigned by Golf Management.
Deliver genuine, personalized service consistent with The Boca Raton luxury standards.
Communicate professionally and courteously with members, guests, and colleagues.
Maintain a calm, confident, and solution-oriented approach.
Present a polished, professional appearance.
Take ownership of responsibilities while working collaboratively with the Golf Operations team.
