About The Position

The Woodlands Country Club, part of the Arcis Golf family, is seeking an experienced golf course superintendent to lead the agronomy team at The Woodlands Country Club - Palmer Course. This role is part of a larger umbrella overseeing five golf courses with a total of 99 holes. The Palmer Course is a 27-hole Arnold Palmer design scheduled for a significant renovation in 2027, including greens, bunkers, and irrigation. Prior construction or renovation experience is preferred. Requirements

  • A degree in Turf Management or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of prior golf course experience with progressive responsibility.
  • Must hold a State Certified Pesticide License.
  • Strong leadership skills both on and off the course.
  • Effective and consistent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, consistent execution, and exemplary standards.
  • Proven track-record of exceptional planning and organizational ability of practices, procedures, and team building.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior construction or renovation experience is preferred.
  • Exemplary performance at premier golf facilities.
  • A desire for mentorship of fellow team managers.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, supervises, and orchestrates the golf course maintenance department's day-to-day activities, maintaining quality standards, developing and retaining maintenance employees, and exceeding guest and member expectations within financial parameters.
  • Communicates daily with the General Manager and Golf Professionals regarding golf course conditions and playability.
  • Communicates routinely with the membership about department improvements and upcoming practices.
  • Promotes Arcis Golf’s philosophies to employees, members, and guests.
  • Ensures the golf course is in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Directs, supervises, and manages Assistant Superintendents, Technicians, Mechanics, and Agronomy team members.
  • Reviews monthly preliminary and final profit/loss statements with the General Manager and Regional Superintendent.
  • Manages irrigation systems, including programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, scheduling, moisture control, and pump station management.
  • Calibrates and operates application equipment.
  • Manages Human Resources functions for the maintenance department, controlling turnover, motivating employees, focusing on employee development and retention, and participating in regular employee meetings.
