About The Position

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is seeking a Golf Course Equipment Operator / Laborer for its Golf Course Maintenance Department. The position supports the health, appearance, and playability of the golf course by applying pesticides and fertilizers safely, operating maintenance equipment, and assisting with daily grounds maintenance. The role helps the course meet the standards expected by members and guests. The position includes monitoring turf and grounds for pest activity and other conditions, maintaining accurate records of chemical applications, organizing chemical storage, and following applicable handling and safety procedures. The employee will learn to interpret pesticide application maps and routes, gain knowledge of pesticides and fertilizers, and prepare for and pass the Florida Department of Agriculture Turf and Ornamental License examinations. Required licensing and certifications must be maintained as needed.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to safely work with pesticides, fertilizers, and related application equipment.
Ability to operate motor vehicles and maintenance equipment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and walk extensive areas of the property while performing duties.
Ability to safely operate hand-carried sprayers and other application equipment.
Ability to learn and apply technical knowledge related to turf management practices.
Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
Ability to identify pest issues and recommend or perform appropriate treatments.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Florida Department of Agriculture Turf and Ornamental License.

Nice To Haves

Experience in golf course maintenance.
Knowledge of pesticides and fertilizers, or the ability to acquire this knowledge through training and licensing programs.

Responsibilities

Apply pesticides and fertilizers to golf course turf and landscaped areas.
Monitor the golf course and grounds for pest activity and turf conditions, and identify and treat issues as appropriate.
Safely operate hand-carried sprayers, self-contained sprayers, tractor-drawn sprayers, and other assigned maintenance equipment.
Maintain accurate daily chemical application records, including products, quantities, equipment, and weather conditions.
Organize and maintain the chemical storage room.
Follow procedures and safety standards for handling, storing, and applying pesticides and fertilizers.
Learn to read, interpret, and follow pesticide application maps and routes.
Drive department vehicles and equipment in support of golf course maintenance operations.
Assist with general grounds and golf course maintenance activities as assigned.
Gain working knowledge of pesticides, fertilizers, and their proper usage.
Prepare for and successfully pass the Florida Department of Agriculture Turf and Ornamental License examinations.
Maintain required licenses and certifications as needed.
