About The Position

Lincoln Homestead State Park is a park located just north of Springfield, Kentucky, in Washington County. The park encompasses 120 acres and features both historic and reproduced homes of Abraham Lincoln's family. Our 18-hole regulation course takes advantage of the natural rolling hills of central Kentucky. With four tee locations, golfers of all levels can find the right course to challenge their game. The course features Bermuda grass fairways and bent grass greens. There are beautiful lakes and incredible vistas throughout the golf course. Lincoln Homestead State Park has a gift shop, fishing lake, non-powered boat ramp, shelter with small playground, an 18-hole disc golf course, and offers self-guided tours of historic buildings, and rental of clubhouse space for small events or gatherings. The beautiful landscape and team environment of the staff provide for an enjoyable career within Kentucky State Parks. Are you interested in working on golf course located in a beautiful setting? We are looking for a golf course assistant superintendent that enjoys the outdoors, has knowledge and experience of the following: golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, budgeting and pesticide application programs, landscape maintenance and design, maintenance of a golf equipment fleet, and irrigation repair and operation. We are currently seeking a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent to join and work with the Park’s Golf Maintenance Department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Two years experience working on a golf maintenance staff for a regulation golf course.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License within six months of employment.
  • The N-18 Pesticide Applicators License required by this position can be obtained by passing the test administered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's degree in plant sciences or a Certificate of Turfgrass Management from an accredited university can substitute for ONE of the required two years of working experience.

Responsibilities

  • Personnel management.
  • Assist Golf Course Superintendent in all phases and agronomic operations on the golf course.
  • Assist in developing long term plans, budgeting plans, and chemical programs.
  • Lead staff in projects and routine maintenance activities.
  • Irrigation repair, instillation, and application to turf.
  • Calibrate and operate the equipment necessary to apply chemicals and fertilizers.
  • Ensure Parks standards and expectations are being met.
  • Public relations and community involvement.
