About The Position

Ohio Wesleyan University is seeking candidates for the position of GMT Plumber. This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits. The university is looking for positive, friendly, and self-motivated candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the campus community. The GMT Plumber will apply knowledge and skill at the journey level to install and repair piping, fixtures, appliances, laboratory equipment, and apparatus related to gas, air, steam, water, drainage systems, and heating and cooling systems. This role will also complete routine and emergency work orders and perform preventive maintenance as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Vocational or technical training or degree
  • Plumber's License (State of Ohio)
  • Backflow Certification
  • Strong Commitment to Customer Service and a willingness to contribute across campus to support students, faculty, staff and visitors
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

  • Seasoned maintenance technician who has a passion for building relationships and helping people
  • Specific experience working in construction or have served in roles in the building trades
  • Comfortable applying your earned knowledge and skill servicing both residential and commercial facilities

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair leaks, clogs, and malfunctions in toilets, sinks, showers, and urinals
  • Maintain and repair specialized campus fixtures including drinking fountains, bottle-filling stations, and emergency eye-wash/drench shower stations to ensure compliance with safety codes
  • Install new plumbing fixtures and hardware during renovations or upgrades
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement of commercial and residential water heaters (electric and gas)
  • Monitor and service water softening systems to protect campus infrastructure from scale and mineral buildup
  • Inspect and maintain back flow prevention devices to ensure water supply integrity
  • Maintain and clear large-scale drainage systems, including sanitary sewers and storm drains
  • Operate power tools, snakes, and hydro-jetting equipment to resolve complex blockages
  • Identify and repair broken or corroded piping (PVC, copper, cast iron, and PEX)
  • Adhere to local and state plumbing codes and university safety protocols
  • Maintain detailed logs of repairs and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Respond to after-hours plumbing emergencies to mitigate property damage
