About The Position

As the Global Trade Compliance Specialist, you would be responsible for the export and import compliance program to ensure all regulatory requirements are being met. You will provide trade compliance oversight to all activities, working with multiple departments to ensure effective compliance controls have been implemented and proper procedures and work instructions are being adhered to. You will assist with creating and providing training to new employees when required. You will develop the trade compliance program and work with various stakeholders to verify legalities and accuracy of submissions. You will implement all regulations relating to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years specialized in facilitating export or import transactions (ideally both) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient with the ITAR, EAR, and FTR
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP/Netsuite, as well as Microsoft Office products
  • 10% anticipated travel
  • Ability to listen to and understand customer requirements and constraints and develop solutions that support business objectives while complying with applicable laws and regulations
  • Willing to undergo and pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • A professional demeanor, a can-do attitude, and a desire to learn and succeed.
  • An ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines.
  • Good, competitive research and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior USML and ECCN classification experience preferred.
  • A Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) credential is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide compliance guidance and support while mitigating risks and costs for all aspects of Imports including, but not limited to, product classification, country of origin determination, trade agreements, marking, labeling (product and packaging), antidumping procedures/cases, other government agency requirements, and transportation requirements in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations and all other applicable rules and regulations
  • Understand and Interpret International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administrations Regulations (EAR), Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), INCOTERMS, and provide guidance on import and/or export related shipments.
  • Maintain accuracy, completeness, and alignment of product-related import data in all systems
  • Prepare and manage export authorizations, including ITAR and EAR licenses, agreements and exemptions
  • Work with the customs brokers to resolve issues with import transactions detected during the standardized post-entry reviews.
  • Maintain efficient recordkeeping of import and export transactions within the TC’s document management system
  • Responsible for defining, creating procedures, and conducting trade compliance audits and ensure corrective action processes are in place to comply with U.S. Government regulations.
  • Implement post-entry review program in coordination with the ITC Manager.
  • Execute internal reviews as assigned, such as HTS reviews of the parts databases, FTA/certificate of origin reviews, annual reviews of ITC procedures, and so forth
  • Proactively escalate service, process, data, and other concerns to Dir of OPS. Assists in identifying and implementing solutions.
  • Ensure all assigned compliance-related problems and issues are addressed timely and correctly.
  • Maintain compliance performance metrics and track licensing submissions.
  • Provide periodic updates on the effectiveness of the compliance program as directed by leadership.
  • Conduct denied party screening and ensure compliance with OFAC, BIS, and other restricted party regulations.
  • Classify products under HTS and ECCN and maintain classification database.
  • Assist in monitoring regulatory changes and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Partner with sourcing, product, and logistics teams to ensure compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Oversee AES filings and ensure accuracy of export reporting.
  • Manage relationships and performance of customs brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Support the Legal Department with internal investigations and voluntary disclosures as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the department's effective operation.
