About The Position

Allyn International is seeking a Global Trade Compliance Intern to join their team in Scotia, NY. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside Specialists and Leads managing software projects, specifically Allyn's proprietary software, ALA, and its trade compliance component, CIMS. The intern will be involved in tasks such as submitting feature requests, testing fixes, managing user accounts, and assisting users with issues. Allyn International is a privately held professional services firm established in 1992, providing services like transportation management, logistics sourcing, freight forwarding, supply chain consulting, tax management, and customs compliance to a diverse range of clients from small businesses to Fortune 500 firms across various industries.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s or equivalent college degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Manage software projects, including writing and submitting requests for new features or bug fixes.
  • Test software fixes and follow up with feedback.
  • Create new user logins and assist users with problems.
  • Ensure compliant, efficient, and cost-effective entry of goods.
  • Monitor broker performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance in areas such as Anti-boycott/Restrictive Trade Practices, Export Control Classification, Export Licensing, Compliance training, Export/Import Documentation, Tariff Classification, Customs Valuation, Duty Drawback, Reconciliation, Country of Origin Marking, Country of Origin Determination, Recordkeeping, Preference Programs/Free Trade Agreement, and Customs Clearance.
  • Assign correct product tariff classification.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance programs and processes.
  • Perform audits to ensure import/export compliance.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities from client data.
  • Collect Client, Entry, Internal, and Broker Data.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, savings, areas of opportunity, and non-compliance, and translate findings into presentations.
