We are seeking a highly experienced Resiliency leader to lead our Global Business Continuity Planning and Crisis Management programs to further develop and lead our Global BCP and CM processes via the Center of Excellence you will establish. The Global Head is responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of the company’s Resilience through the COE, Global Security teams, and matrixed business partners. This role ensures the organization is prepared to respond and recover from disruptive events while maintaining critical business operations. A core expectation of this role is the ability to apply AI tools and techniques in practical, day-to-day Resiliency work from AI-assisted risk assessments and predictive scenario planning to automated plan maintenance and intelligent alerting. The position partners closely with Global Security, GSOC, Crisis Management, IT, Engineering, Legal, Facilities, HR, Risk Management, and executive leadership to design and maintain scalable, risk-based continuity solutions across the Global footprint and business units. Beyond individual use, this leader will develop and execute a strategy to scale AI across the Resiliency functions embedding AI-driven capabilities into workflows, exercises, and reporting so that the entire program becomes faster, smarter, and more resilient over time. Applied Materials is growing at a pace that is driving significant increases in headcount and facilities and growing our line of customer offerings. As a result, we expect over the next five years to have the most exciting and active R&D and manufacturing infrastructure pipeline in our history. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the company’s people, operations, and brand. To keep pace with this growth, the Resiliency function must scale rapidly across an increasingly complex Global footprint with AI central to that strategy. The Global Head of Resiliency directly enables business resilience by harnessing AI-driven insights, predictive risk intelligence, and automation to build a program that scales with the business, and ensures leadership has confidence in the company’s ability to withstand and recover from disruption. This Sr. Director position reports to the Chief Security Officer and requires up to 50% travel.

Requirements

  • 15+ years executive leadership experience managing global Business Continuity, Crisis Management, and Operational Resilience programs within complex, multinational organizations.
  • Deep expertise in ISO 22301, NIST, FFIEC, and enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Proven ability to advise executive leadership during high-impact operational, cyber, physical, and reputational crisis events.
  • Strong experience developing enterprise resilience strategies integrating business continuity, crisis management, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and operational risk.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing global teams in highly matrixed environments.
  • Expertise in enterprise Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), risk assessments, dependency mapping, and recovery strategy development.
  • Advanced knowledge of crisis leadership, executive communications, escalation management, and incident command structures.
  • Proven ability to develop governance frameworks, executive dashboards, KPIs/KRIs, and board-level resilience reporting.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide crisis exercises, simulations, and recovery testing programs.
  • Strong partnership and influencing skills across Cybersecurity, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Supply Chain, Facilities, and executive business leadership.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to strengthen resilience, crisis response, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously enhance the enterprise Business Continuity and Crisis Management programs globally aligning with ISO 22301, NIST, FFIEC, and operational resilience best practices.
  • Establish and oversee the Business Continuity & Crisis Management Center of Excellence (COE), including governance, policies, standards, and program lifecycle management.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on business continuity risk, crisis preparedness, operational resilience, and recovery capabilities.
  • Lead Global Business Continuity and Crisis Management teams, fostering a high-performing and resilience-focused culture within a highly matrixed environment.
  • Direct enterprise-wide Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) to identify critical processes, dependencies, Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
  • Partner with Risk, Cybersecurity, Technology, Physical Security, Facilities, Procurement, and business leaders to assess operational, cyber, physical, and third-party risks impacting continuity and resilience.
  • Develop, maintain, and validate business continuity, crisis management, and recovery plans across corporate, product, and site operations.
  • Ensure alignment of Business Continuity and Crisis Management programs with Disaster Recovery, Incident Response, Emergency Management, and Operational Resilience initiatives.
  • Provide centralized leadership during crisis events and significant disruptions, driving effective response coordination, escalation management, communication, and recovery execution.
  • Develop and lead tabletop exercises, simulations, and recovery testing to validate organizational readiness and response effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement through after-action reviews, corrective action tracking, program assessments, and real-world event learnings.
  • Develop executive-level KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to measure resilience, crisis readiness, recovery performance, and program maturity.
  • Leverage AI-enabled analytics, automation, and risk intelligence tools to improve scenario modeling, monitoring, reporting, and operational response capabilities.
  • Deliver enterprise-wide continuity and crisis management training and awareness programs for executives, leaders, and recovery teams.
  • Support third-party resilience assessments and ensure continuity and crisis management requirements are integrated into vendor governance and contractual obligations.
  • Influence and align cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority while promoting a culture of resilience, preparedness, and accountability.
