About The Position

This is an internship/co-op opportunity within the Velocity Program at Scotiabank, focusing on Global Procurement. The program is designed to provide students with development and tools for career growth, offering customized experiences and potential future placements within Scotiabank and Tangerine. The role involves supporting the Global Procurement team with various analytical and administrative tasks related to sourcing, market research, data analysis, and project execution.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
  • Resourceful and creative in gathering & mining data from various sources and applications (includes both quantitative and qualitative data).
  • Excellent analytical skills: able to understand & manipulate complex and large datasets; being comfortable with unstructured data is important.
  • A collaborative team-player who can build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups.
  • Can learn and navigate through new applications quickly and efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge in data collection, manipulation, cleansing and analysis experience with work or project experience with spreadsheet modeling and database management.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Nice To Haves

  • Procurement, sourcing, vendor management and contract analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of project and program management best practices and methodologies.
  • Data visualization and reporting experience (ex: Power BI).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal spend analysis by developing cost/pricing models by consolidating data from various sourcing categories.
  • Create and maintain various presentations and reports using Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and PowerBI.
  • Conduct market, industry, and product research using internal and external resources.
  • Support the development of documentation, presentations, supplier contracts, and implementation plans.
  • Assist in spend validation and data cleansing to improve the quality of data sources.
  • Assist in the creation of RF(x) proposals, including evaluation criteria and pricing models.
  • Create and configure RF(x) strategies and competitive bidding events using the Bank’s technology platforms.
  • Support the team in the execution of initiatives, project management, or other ad-hoc analyses.
  • Support with developing, coordinating, and improving the internal and external capabilities of Global Procurement (e.g. tools, processes, templates, technologies).
  • Support with bank-wide enablement of procurement standards and tools.
  • Apply risk management and compliance checks when researching and analyzing supply markets and contract performance to identify potential risks and trigger risk mitigation and management responses.
  • Support dependent projects needed to reach the overall strategic objectives, including monitoring progress to ensure that milestones are being met.
