From September to December, interns gain hands-on experience in their assigned business group, participate in professional development sessions, and network across various business groups. They also learn about BMO Capital Markets culture, attend learning seminars, receive feedback, and get coaching and career guidance from mentors. Successful completion of the internship may lead to a full-time offer.Co-Op Analysts will work within the Global Markets Group of BMO Capital Markets, which includes Client Coverage, Origination, Digital and Liquid Trading, Structured Products Trading, Equity Products, and Financial Resource Management, serving institutional, corporate, and government clients. Interns will be placed on one desk for the duration of the term, such as Equity Sales & Trading, Equity Structured Solutions, Prime Finance, Research, Rates Sales & Trading, Origination, or Quantitative Modeling, based on preference and skill set. The program includes continuous professional development activities like teach-ins, trading games, meetings with senior leaders, and networking events.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a graduation date of December 2027, 2028, 2029
  • Currently working towards a degree in: Finance, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
  • Proven track record of excellent academic standing and extra curricular participation
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of financial markets
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, able to collect, analyze and interpret data
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment
  • Demonstrated proactivity, resiliency, positive attitude and high motivation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to attentively review, assess and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner
  • Excellent capacity to independently function as part of a team through self -motivation
  • Strong work ethic and a high level of professional integrity
  • Detail and results orientated
  • You are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or an individual who is legally authorized to work in Canada and will not require sponsorship in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and/or experience of front-end developer languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular)
  • Knowledge and/or experience in back end developer languages (C++, C#, Java, Python, VBA)
  • Knowledge and/or experience of at least one type of statistical programming language (i.e. R, MatLab)
  • Database experience (SQL, Oracle)
  • Familiarity with data manipulation and strong quantitative/statistical background
  • Understanding of mathematical models
  • Fluency in Excel, including scripting and efficient spreadsheet design
  • Strong technical writing ability
