Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician to join our fellowship program. The department is pleased to announce a one-year Emergency Medicine Global Health Fellowship. Loma Linda is proud to have started the first global emergency medicine fellowship program in the United States. Our department sponsors medical missions, physician-exchange programs, as well as long-term development projects focusing on higher education training programs and physician and nursing education. We have active resident involvement in international electives twice a year. Our faculty has multiple members who are fellowship trained in global health. It is an exciting time to be a part of global emergency medicine as many countries worldwide are beginning to recognize emergency medicine as a specialty making many opportunities for international collaboration. A fellow can expect to obtain skills in public health/epidemiology, tropical medicine clinical skills, global health research, cross-cultural education and emergency systems program development. Some of our more recent focus countries have been China, Vietnam, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Puerto Rico, Egypt, and Mozambique. We have a passion for emergency medicine residency training. We support two new residencies in Uganda and Mozambique. We have strategic partner organizations around the world and faculty working with the World Health Organization on emergency referrals for maternal and neonatal health. Fellows will be expected to have three months of global exposure during their year. Fellows will involve themselves in global health projects aimed at improving the skills necessary for a career in global health.
