Global Head of Talent Acquisition

Skylo TechnologiesMountain View, CA

About The Position

Skylo is hiring a Global Head of Talent Acquisition to build and run its recruiting function. The company is growing from approximately 150 to 200 people this year, requiring 55 to 70 hires across Mountain View, Espoo, and India, with a focus on scarce engineering talent. This is a player-coach role reporting directly to executive leadership. The Global Head of Talent Acquisition will own the global talent engine, system architecture, workforce planning alignment, and employer brand strategy to attract world-class hardware, software, and telecom talent. The goal is to transform the recruiting function into a predictable, data-backed competitive advantage that fuels Skylo's mission. A key principle is that the best hiring process ensures candidates who don't get the job will still recommend Skylo to their friends.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in talent acquisition
  • 5+ years leading recruiting teams in software, hardware, deep-tech, telecom, or other service operations
  • Significant experience personally sourcing and closing senior technical hires
  • Experience building and leading high-performing TA teams
  • Direct experience hiring into a scarce, specialized talent market (e.g., semiconductor, aerospace, defense, satellite, wireless infrastructure)
  • Demonstrated experience scaling organizations rapidly through multi-geographic expansion and complex technical hiring pushes
  • Expert hands-on proficiency with Ashby or equivalent modern ATS platforms (system architecture, reporting, workflow automation)
  • Deep experience establishing formal headcount planning mechanics, recruiter capacity models, and pipeline forecasting tools
  • Track record of building structured interviewing from scratch
  • Track record of measuring quality of hire (not just speed and volume)
  • Ability to drive candidate experience initiatives and employer branding programs from scratch
  • Proven ability to manage executive search and agency partners, and transition hiring volume in-house without lowering standards
  • Strategic mindset paired with an operational bias for action

Responsibilities

  • Architect and execute a multi-year global talent acquisition strategy supporting Skylo's technical milestones and business goals.
  • Clearly define roles with signed scorecards (mission, measurable outcomes, competencies, exclusions) before sourcing.
  • Run hiring motions separately for scarce specialists (named-target mapping, executive outreach), scaled functional hiring (repeatable pipeline), executive hiring (retained search), and cleared personnel.
  • Own and optimize Ashby as the core recruiting OS, managing workflows, interview kits, system permissions, integrations, and data hygiene.
  • Build reporting for pipeline coverage, time to fill, offer accept rate, source mix, and cost per hire.
  • Operationalize structured workforce and headcount planning, tracking plan-vs-actual variance and feeding insights into strategic business reviews.
  • Standardize company-wide interview process design with structured interview kits, competency scorecards, and candidate feedback loops to elevate candidate NPS.
  • Own quality of hire by establishing 6-month measurement, rolling it up by recruiter, source, and interview loop, and using it to calibrate scorecards.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a global recruiting team, developing operational playbooks, SOPs, and enablement training.
  • Partner with Marketing on employer branding campaigns, university relations, and candidate pipeline initiatives.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships, agency agreements, and executive search partners.
