About The Position

Fundamental is seeking a world-class commercial leader to build and scale our global Energy (Oil & Gas) business. This is a critical leadership role responsible for establishing our tabular AI foundation model as the system of intelligence for the world’s leading energy companies.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of enterprise sales or commercial leadership experience, with significant focus on oil & gas or energy
  • Proven track record of closing large, complex deals ($1M–$10M+ ACV) with global enterprises
  • Deep network and credibility across major energy companies (supermajors, NOCs, large independents, oilfield services)
  • Experience selling data platforms, AI/ML solutions, or enterprise software to technical and executive audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale pipeline across global markets
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite stakeholders
  • Experience hiring and leading high-performing, globally distributed teams
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and ownership

Responsibilities

  • Build and Own the Global Energy Business: Define and execute the global commercial strategy for the oil & gas sector. Establish the company as a category leader in predictive AI for energy. Identify and prioritize the highest-value accounts globally (supermajors, NOCs, large independents, oilfield services). Drive expansion across North America, Middle East, and international markets.
  • Build Durable, High-Quality Pipeline: Create and maintain a multi-year, durable pipeline across the world’s leading energy companies. Develop repeatable pipeline generation strategies that scale across regions and vertical segments. Ensure consistent pipeline coverage to support aggressive growth targets.
  • Close Large, Strategic Deals: Personally lead and close complex, seven-figure+ enterprise deals. Navigate highly technical and multi-stakeholder sales cycles across operations, data, and executive leadership. Structure long-term, high-value commercial agreements that embed the platform deeply within customer workflows.
  • Executive Relationship Ownership: Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-suite executives (CEO, CFO, CIO, CTO, Chief Data/AI Officers). Position the company as a strategic partner in digital transformation and operational optimization. Engage directly with executive leadership on high-impact use cases (production optimization, drilling, capital allocation, trading, predictive maintenance, etc.).
  • Hire, Build, and Lead a World-Class Team: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing global sales and industry team. Instill a culture of excellence, accountability, and customer obsession. Mentor talent to operate effectively in complex, enterprise environments.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with product, data science, and solutions engineering teams to deliver industry-leading solutions. Translate customer needs into product insights and roadmap influence. Collaborate with marketing to drive thought leadership and industry.
