About The Position

BCI is seeking a Global Communications co-op student for the Fall 2026 work term (September to December) to join the Global Investment Communications team. This role will support research, content development, and strategic projects that help tell the story of one of Canada's largest institutional investors. The Global Communications Co-op/Intern will work within the Global Communications department, learning and applying knowledge to support investment communications and strategic research projects, including exploring how leading communications teams use AI and storytelling to build stronger audience connections.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related field
  • A fundamental knowledge of basic business and investment-related disciplines is strongly recommended
  • A demonstrated interest in investment communications, a dedication to hard work, commitment to the highest ethical standards, and an eagerness to learn
  • Genuine curiosity about artificial intelligence and how emerging tools are changing the communications profession
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail
  • Strong research skills combined with analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; experience with AI tools
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country where this job is located.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI tools
  • Familiarity with media monitoring platforms, design tools, or digital and video content production would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of the Senior Advisor to support a range of communication projects across the team
  • Research and benchmark AI adoption and best practices across communications and the institutional investing industry, identifying practical tools and workflows the team could adopt
  • Develop and implement storytelling strategy that strengthens how BCI connects with the people its work is ultimately for
  • Research and identify story opportunities that bring BCI's investment strategy to life for clients, trustees, and the communities our work serves
  • Support the production of written, digital, and video content for a range of audiences
  • Assist with media monitoring and reporting to track BCI’s coverage across priority publications
  • Support conference and event coordination for BCI asset class and senior leaders, as applicable
  • Partner with Employee Communications and The Creative Production Hub on initiatives
  • Contribute to ad-hoc research, writing, and project support as directed by the team

  • Competitive pay: $2,330.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,155.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary ($2,330.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree and $2,155.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate)
  • Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location
