About The Position

Our multinational pharmaceutical partner is seeking a Senior Manager focusing on Strategic Business Development & Licensing to join its global HQ organization. This strategic role will focus on the identification, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of end-to-end licensing transactions across a global scope, with a strong emphasis on R&D and clinical development-stage assets. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving in-licensing, out-licensing, co-development, and strategic partnership opportunities, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to support portfolio growth and innovation objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in BD&L within the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry.
  • Strong background in R&D, Clinical Development, Commercial Operations, Business Development, or a combination of these areas.
  • Proven experience managing licensing, partnership, co-development, or strategic alliance transactions within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Hands-on experience working with clinical-stage assets and a solid understanding of the drug development process.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to the licensing of pre-regulatory / pre-approval products; experience limited to commercialized products is not sufficient for this role.
  • Mandatory experience working with Rx products; candidates with primarily OTC-focused backgrounds will not be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of due diligence, asset evaluation, deal structuring, contract negotiations, and alliance management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills within a complex global matrix organization.
  • Experience presenting business opportunities and transaction recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Master's degree or higher, preferably in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medicine, or another relevant scientific discipline.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the EU and be currently residing in one of the conuntries listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate strategic in-licensing opportunities aligned with the company's portfolio and therapeutic area priorities.
  • Identify and engage potential co-development, licensing, and strategic alliance partners globally, with particular focus on key pharmaceutical markets.
  • Lead and coordinate end-to-end business development transactions, including partner identification and outreach, CDA/NDA execution, opportunity assessment, due diligence, business case preparation, deal structuring, commercial negotiations, and support of contract development together with Legal.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Finance, Intellectual Property, Project Management, and senior leadership throughout the licensing process.
  • Ensure alignment and transparency across stakeholders by regularly presenting project updates, opportunities, and transaction progress to governance forums and leadership teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of licensing discussions, evaluations, and completed transactions within internal systems.
  • Manage strategic partner relationships following deal execution, including oversight of contractual obligations, alliance management activities, partner engagement, and performance monitoring against agreed milestones and objectives.
  • Represent the company at international partnering events, industry conferences, and business development forums to build and maintain a strong external network.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape developments, and emerging partnership opportunities within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
