About The Position

This position will see patients at Madison UW Health Clinics and will provide clinical teaching for learners in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Additionally, this position may include patient care duties at UW Regional Services Clinics. Clinical research and/or academic service is also expected. The candidate has the option of combining glaucoma clinical care with comprehensive ophthalmology or other sub-specialty eye care. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years. This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with JR10000662; please note that only one vacancy exists. Having two job postings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider candidates with both tenure-track faculty credentials and non-tenure-track faculty credentials for this position.

Requirements

  • WI Medical license, or eligible for WI Medical license by start of position.
  • Completion of US Ophthalmology Accredited Residency Program and Glaucoma Fellowship by start of the position.
  • Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology by start of position.
  • MD or DO, or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and establish an independent research program
  • Pursue and obtain extramural funding for research program
  • Provide high quality patient care at UW Health Madison and potentially Regional Services Clinics in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, including medical and surgical care
  • Participate in resident/medical student/fellowship education in the clinic and in the operating room.
  • Perform administrative duties as appropriate.
  • Participate in professional, public and university service as appropriate.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
  • Work in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
