About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-directed GL Accountant to support core accounting and treasury functions, who will be primary responsible for completing bank reconciliations, cash management activities, general ledger accounting, and various balance sheet account reconciliations. This role requires strong analytical abilities, sound understanding of U.S. GAAP, and the ability to independently investigate and resolve discrepancies by identifying underlying transactions and supporting documentation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable drafting reconciliations from start to finish, maintaining supporting schedules, and actively contributing to a timely and accurate month-end close process. This position provides opportunities to contribute meaningfully to system of internal controls and engage in process optimization, while partnering with team members across Finance, Payroll, Operations, and other business functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3+ years of practical experience with direct responsibility for bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and month-end close activities.
  • Proven record of preparing accurate account reconciliations while managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to independently resolve complex reconciling differences.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience preparing balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash, prepaids, accruals, and other general ledger accounts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and analytical reporting.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable ERP/accounting system is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain detailed supporting documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle daily and monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
  • Research and resolve reconciling items by identifying source documentation, tracing transactions through operational systems, and applying correct accounting treatment.
  • Maintain organized documentation for deposits in transit, outstanding checks, bank fees, ACH activity, and other reconciling items.
  • Assist preparation and maintenance of daily cash reporting and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Monitor cash activity and support treasury management initiatives.
  • Utilize banking platforms to research cash transactions and support reconciliation and reporting activities.
  • Prepare and maintain reconciliations for varied balance sheet accounts including cash, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and other assigned accounts.
  • Investigate variances and aging reconciling items and propose corrective actions.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities through preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and close checklists.
  • Ensure assigned close deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Support the design, documentation, and implementation of internal controls related to cash management and reconciliation processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes, reporting efficiency, documentation standards, and internal control effectiveness.
  • Support internal, external audits through preparation of reconciliation support, schedules, and analysis.
  • Utilize accounting systems effectively and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
