About The Position

Holland is seeking a collaborative and experienced GL accounting professional, with a strong attention to detail, accuracy, and meeting deadlines to join our dedicated accounting team at our corporate office in downtown Vancouver, Washington. The GL Accountant is responsible for managing a full range of accounting duties for their assigned properties in accordance with Holland Partner Group’s Core Values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in general ledger accounting required.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with an emphasis on accrual accounting.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic to intermediate mathematical functions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure, reassess daily competing priorities, and proactively meet cyclical deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees within the organization.
  • Regular and punctual attendance compliant with the schedule set to meet company needs.
  • Ability to lift or move up to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting strongly preferred.
  • Specified experience in the property management industry strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting may be considered in lieu of some experience.
  • Yardi and/or MRI software experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements including all supporting documents and schedules for assigned portfolio.
  • Complete month-end accounting close for assigned property portfolio.
  • Complete detailed balance sheet account reconciliations monthly.
  • Prepare and post monthly and quarterly journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate and complete supporting documentation for all journal entries within the ledger system.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues affecting underlying accounting records.
  • Collaborate daily with Senior Accountants, Property Managers, and Regional Property Managers to ensure timely and accurate month end close activities.
  • Serve as a resource to Property Managers on topics related to accounting.
  • Represent Holland Partner Group in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform all other duties as directed and assist the overall team effort.
