About The Position

The Engineering Systems Tools team powers how eBay engineers build, test, and ship software at scale. We develop, operate, and evolve the internal platforms that thousands of developers rely on every day to deliver secure, high-quality experiences to buyers and sellers around the world. As a Senior GitHub Enterprise Platform Engineer, you will serve as a hands-on technical leader for eBay’s GitHub Enterprise ecosystem. You will own the platform's reliability, security, and usability. You will develop standards and self-service experiences that help engineering teams collaborate effectively. Your work will enable confident code reviews and safe automation of workflows at scale. This is an individual contributor role with broad influence across engineering, security, product, and infrastructure teams, and a strong opportunity to improve developer efficiency across eBay.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering in a large-scale environment, including significant hands-on work with Git-based platforms.
Deep experience coordinating GitHub Enterprise Server and/or GitHub Enterprise Cloud at scale, including repository and organization management, security controls, auditability, runners, and integrations.
Strong programming or scripting skills in Python, Java, or similar languages, with experience using REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and infrastructure-as-code to automate platform operations.
Experience integrating GitHub with CI/CD, artifact, and quality or security tooling such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, or similar platforms.
Solid understanding of identity and access management concepts including SSO, SAML, SCIM, RBAC, and least-privilege access, and how to apply them to developer collaboration platforms.
Strong solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across distributed systems, databases, cloud or container environments, and multi-functional teams to drive issues through resolution.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve eBay’s GitHub Enterprise platform to deliver a highly available, secure, and scalable experience for thousands of engineers.
Define and implement platform standards for repositories, branching, code review, and policy enforcement that improve engineering velocity while supporting security and compliance goals.
Partner closely with Identity and Security teams to strengthen access management through SSO, SCIM, and role-based controls, enabling scalable, auditable, and least-privilege access.
Build automation, APIs, bots, and tools guided by rules that simplify onboarding, repository lifecycle management, and fleet-wide platform changes.
Improve platform reliability by implementing monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response, and root-cause analysis across GitHub Enterprise Server and its underlying database systems.
Lead upgrades, migrations, and multi-functional platform improvements while advising engineering teams on standard methodologies through documentation, consultation, and enablement.
