This position includes on-the-job training and experience. Primary duties include performing skilled digital mapping using ArcGIS Pro to prepare, maintain, and update digital maps and parcel data for the County Assessor’s mapping section. The position requires the ability to interpret recorded plats, deeds, and other legal property documents and translate the information contained within those documents into accurate digital representations of property boundaries and ownership information within the County’s Geographic Information System (GIS). The position is responsible for maintaining accurate and current parcel data that serves as the authoritative property mapping resource for the Assessor’s Office and as a foundational GIS data layer utilized by other County departments. Duties also include conducting historical research on parcels and property records to resolve discrepancies, establish historical property information, and assist in determining the appropriate representation of property within the GIS. The position provides mapping data, research, analysis, and technical assistance to County departments and the general public. The employee must be able to communicate and explain property mapping, historical research findings, and related information in a clear and understandable manner to property owners, members of the public, County staff, and other interested parties. This position is intended to provide support for assessment mapping, county-wide interdepartmental Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Land Records maintenance and other functions as assigned.
