About The Position

Genesis10 is seeking a GIS Editor for a 24-month contract opportunity with a Major Utility Company in New Jersey. This role involves maintaining the Geographic Information System (GIS) model for the client's electric utility systems. The position begins with an 8-week fully onsite training period, followed by a hybrid work model combining remote and onsite work. The ideal candidate will have experience updating, editing, and modifying geospatial data, and will be responsible for processing work orders, performing analysis, and producing custom maps.

Requirements

1-2 years of GIS experience (from school or work)
Experience using GIS applications and understanding how relationships work in GIS
Ability to acquire a thorough working knowledge of the company's business applications and utility transmission/distribution systems
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to operate motor vehicles in the state of New Jersey
Computer skills in MS Office and other Windows applications
Ability to work at various client locations based on business needs
Open to recent college graduates with GIS experience from school or internships

Nice To Haves

Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD

Responsibilities

Maintain the GIS connected model with information from sources including work management systems, as-built construction drawings, and work orders
Perform analysis or queries to assemble data and prepare reports, tabulations, charts, and maps
Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests
Maintain service point data and its relationship to the feeding source transformer
Track the lifespan of utility asset data, including history, inspection, and attachments
Resolve conflicting data, mapping, connectivity, and land issues through office or field investigation
Perform GIS work pertaining to major projects such as facility relocations, load rearrangement, and new business
Operate automated office equipment, perform manual or computer-aided drafting, and file records
