About The Position

The Girls Volleyball Frosh-Sophomore Head Coach is responsible for leading and developing the freshman and sophomore volleyball teams to foster athletic growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This role focuses on teaching fundamental volleyball skills, strategies, and conditioning to young athletes, preparing them for higher levels of competition. The coach will create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages personal development, discipline, and a strong work ethic both on and off the court. Collaboration with other coaching staff and school administration is essential to align team goals with the broader athletic program. Ultimately, the coach aims to build a competitive and cohesive team that represents the school with pride and integrity.

Requirements

  • Experience playing or coaching volleyball at the high school level or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively with adolescent athletes and foster a positive team culture.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Background check clearance as required by the school or district.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coaching experience specifically with freshman and sophomore volleyball teams.
  • Certification in coaching or sports safety (e.g., CPR, First Aid, NFHS Coaching Certification).
  • Experience in athletic training or physical conditioning.
  • Demonstrated success in developing young athletes’ skills and competitive performance.
  • Familiarity with the school’s athletic program and community.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions focusing on skill development, game strategy, and physical conditioning.
  • Develop and implement game plans for matches, including player positioning and in-game adjustments.
  • Mentor and motivate student-athletes to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic balance.
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, and school officials to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Manage team logistics such as scheduling games, transportation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding player progress and team activities.
